This company offers a program to integrate IT literacy on the schools, from prekinder to K-8 level.

Is not only software for reading and math skills, it contains lessons, activities, practices and discussion for students and teacher, oriented to untderstand and develop IT skills.

Cisco Networking Academy

One of the most succesfull and complete learning programs on IT and Networks is the Cisco Networking Academy. This program was born as an iniciative on USA, after 1995, by Cisco Company, trying to teach and prepare the new generation on new technologies.

This program include more than 12 courses developed on a special e-learning platform called VIRTUOSO. The courses are on-line developed and face-to-face or hybrid teached. Other main companies on IT are joined to this program in order to support more IT courses: Sun Microsystems, HP, Macromedia and Panduit.

The program is free and well supported for High School and Universities. The institution who wants to participate, nedd only a laboratory, a high speed connection to Internet, a Cisco-lab for laboratory and 2 certified proffesors (the courses for proffesors are free too).

This program is used on more than 150 countries and 1.6 millions of students!!

The Leap Frog Software is a solution, that includes software and a system, and a support for activities classroom.

Yes, it´s a comercial software, but also, there is a study made in high-poverty preschools on New Jersey that you cand find on: http://lttf.ieee.org/learn_tech/issues/october2004/index.html#_Toc88851948, where the authors described the impact and perform on readings and language skills on children, that are using this software.

The software is for preschool and K-6 grade, and include:

WaterFord Institute

I found a very interesting Learning Software for preschool on:

WaterFord Institute (non profit foundation)

They have 2 learning software on early math and early reading programs.

It is one of the nation’s first technology-driven reform models in mathematics and science.

I tryied the demo on that site and for me, it´s a perfect software for children: very clear learning objetive, easy to use, fun, with colors, sound, very attractive.

I want that software for my children!!
but, you can get it only trought Pearson (http://www.pearson.com as school -not individual- per 300 USD per child).
